David Critchlow envisioned a reptile habitat in the mid 1980's, beginning with a small habitat for
small cold-blooded animals
indigenous to Michigan.
Expanding into tropical exhibits in the 1990's and finally rescuing reptiles,
especially American Alligators in 2001.

T
he Critchlow's collection of reptiles and tropical plants has
now transformed into
the Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary, which is now located at

1698 M-66 Athens, Michigan. 49011.

The theme behind Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary is to create a natural environment
for all the
rescued animals to liveout their lives, and to allow the public to see how they live and behave in
that environment.

It is a unique place to where you can interact with friendly animals by feeding
them, and watch them grow and learn with the help of the experienced staff.

The mission of Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary & Zoological Garden's is to inspire and educate
people to care for the environment by providing fun and educational experiences that lead to
understanding the natural world.
